The local Gold’s Gym seems to attract affluent young men and women who view the gym as part fashion show/workout. There is one guy I see who wears the most immaculate workout wear-I’ve seen him bringing in his exercise costume (tights) on a hanger from the local drycleaner! The walls are all mirrors-so that these hunks and babes can check themselves out as they are pumping iron. Of course,it couldbe worse…at least people wipe off the equipment after they use it! ---

The crowd I see isn’t that bad, but I don’t even get to the gym until 9 PM, so maybe they’re near me too. The crowd I do see makes me cringe, though. ---

They are absolutely essential! I always face the mirror whenever doing any work with free weights, especially with dumbbells – how else can I see if I have decent form? For example, if I’m doing shoulder presses, the mirror lets me see when the bars are at ear-level; likewise, when I am doing chest flys, I can see when my arms are back far enough. Oh, and they do allow one to obliquely observe those girls in spandex without being _too_ obvious (one or two degrees of indirection).
