I concur with the OP and with the OP’s post directly above my post.
I just looked at the front page and as of the time of this posting there was a post by “irishgirl” timed 7:02 AM that had -0- replies and was 2/3rds of the way down the front page. The OP has a point. IMO.
Now that is anecdotal, I acknowledge that, but just look for yourself occasionally as to the room/space on the front page.

Your definition, perhaps. Even if they were objectively MPSIMS, they are rants, and as such this is the place, if any, for them to go.
I personally would rather see someone venting anger at a defective plastic knife than anything **Reeder** can muster.

I’d rather read a well-crafted, entertaining Pit post about how someone’s bunnies are chewing through their extension cords than read yet another post about how something horrible and depraved happened in East Kokomo and someone had to rush to the Pit to register their utter dismay! and shock! Yes, it’s tragic that someone did something to their kid/pet/girlfriend/random passerby but I can’t do anything about it, and I’m not sure what is gained by running to the Pit and announcing to the world that so-and-so is a Sick Fuck Who Should Be Fed To a Rabid Goat.
Come to think of it, I’d rather read a post about someone’s cat or boss than a post by some dipshit arbiter of Board policy who thinks he has the Final Word on what is and is not appropriate in a given forum.

Okay **lissener** , let’s take your girl with the blue hair example.
Suppose she comes on and posts “My mom won’t let me die my hair blue.” Then later the same day she posts, “My mom won’t let me wear blue clothes.” The next day she posts, “My mom won’t let me wear blue makeup,” “My mom won’t let me wear blue shoes,” and “My mom won’t let me buy a blue purse.” This goes on day in and day out for months.
Would you be upset if **Lynn** limited her to just one thread? After all, they are all basically about the same thing. Her mom won’t let her show her love for the color blue.
In my experience, **Reeder’s** threads are a lot like this. Most of his OP’s are basically the same, “Bush sucks!” Why do we need to see two or three of these posts on the front page of the Pit? They all say the same thing.

Hey lissener. Who cares? Some people care solely about Big World Issues. Others have compassion even for one person. Just because you don’t care about individuals, doesn’t mean everyone else can only hear about what’s pissing you off in politics today.

lissener’s real problem here isn’t the threads he sees as useless and inappropriate to this forum. His post is nothing more tha a thinly-veiled shot across the bow of the staff because they made a decision he doesn’t agree with. And that’s why I think he’s being an idiot. He either: **a)** thinks he’s gonna get banned for directly disagreeing with a staff decision, or **b)** doesn’t know how to properly compose his thoughts. Of course, I ain’t ruling out both a) and b).
In any case, way back in my moderating days, I closed a bunch of threads of certain types in MPSIMS because they, too, were consuming the very limited real estate on the front page. Now he wants to put more shit, and confrontational shit at that, in MPSIMS. More evidence of his idiocy.
So whaddaya think lissener? I’m the sole member on this board that I know of from Sylvania, OH. Since anything my city trustees have no effect on anyone else here, do you think they oughtta go in MPSIMS, or here in the Pit? My prediction is that you really have no opinion. And that’s because the issue have brought up here is a sham. You don’t really care about it; it was just a convenient way to snipe at the staff. And you’re sniping about something that didn’t even happen. Goddamn if that’s not yet more idiocy.

Point the first: rants, of any kind, according to previous rulings by moderators, go to the Pit.
Point the second: man, fuck you. Third party pittings are my favourite threads to read, and I suspect a good number of the threads I’ve started (so very few overall) have been third party pittings as well. If I had to read nothing but politics on this board, I’d expire.

Thanks for sharing with me, Uncle Beer, the contents of my mind.
Here’s the sequence of events.
I’m reading along the list of topics, and seeing more and more of those stupid, attention-whoring “my cat doesn’t like me” threads, and it occurs to me: “You know, Lynn has a lot of nerve singling out Reeder for wasting Pit bandwidth, when these whiny thumbsuckers keep flooding the Pit with threads that would be better suited, in my opinion, to MPSIMS.”
So . . . I think I was pretty up front about the whole thing, no? Where was I thinly veiled or whatever?

I’m not sure I follow you. **Q.E.D.**'s postings are typically measured and well-researched. Based on his track record, your post would only qualify as _ironic_ if **Q.E.D.** had just dispensed erroneous information. So you can understand why I’m missing the irony. But in all fairness, I _am_ Old School. Probably just a nitpick.
**lissener** … Wait. **Diane** , I’ve got another example of irony. It would have been _ironic_, if **lissener** , in response to the leniency our **Reeder** has been shown, had eagerly scrawled a thread singing the praises of our Administration.

And Fenris, isn’t accusing someone of junior modding junior modding? I’m not telling anyone what to do; I’m expressing my opinion regarding the interpretation of the existing rules. There are standing rules; some people interpret them one way, I have obviously always interpreted them in another.
How is that junior modding? So, everyone who ever has anything to say at all about any aspect of the local rules is breaking one of those rules? Hate to live in your world. (Note, to, Fen, my nearly patronizingly constant sprinkling of "IMO"s throughout my posts.)

Whether or not fuck is used elsewhere, the point still remains. Even more importantly, where would the line be drawn? Would my thread pitting ignorant kids on the bus for using the word “lesbian” derogatorily go in MPSIMS, while pitting the general populace for using the word “gay” derogatorily go in the pit?
Let me know if you aren’t actually interested in this issue, as many others in this thread have suggested.

The distinction, as I have always interpreted it, but which seems to become blurrier and blurrier everytime someone’s stepfather calls them fat, is that if it’s MUNDANE AND POINTLESS it goes in MPSIMS. If it’s a flame–which is not the same as a whine–or, according to the rules, if it’s a discussion of board rules or admin–it goes in the Pit.
Whether the thread contains obscenity or not has obviously never been a deciding factor.
