I understand. So as you say, we should view its people with pity, not scorn. Just because UV is a racist asshole who thinks efforts to weaken the hold of institutional racism amount to having to “kiss ass” to minorities doesn’t mean his fellow WV’ers are like that. ---

My wife’s family is also from Columbus. (She grew up in a town called Brice, technically a “village”.) ---

I didn’t mean to imply that West Virginia was the worst state, as racism goes. Just that there are some states where it could maybe go unnoticed, if you were unobservant… but West Virginia isn’t one of them. ---

Again, not an either/or situation. We libtards here in neighboring Maryland hope to enact policies that will help our less affluent neighbors but of course we’re also going to ridicule them for their Trump-loving ways and unwillingness to help themselves. I see no hypocrisy there. ---
