# Pizza, cucumbers, and orange juice

At breakfast this morning Ms Hook and myself sat next to a table where a 10ish year olf boy ordered pizza, cucumbers, and orange juice for breakfast. By meals end he’d eaten all the cucumbers but left half the pizza and orange juice.
Given his age, I’m claiming this to be the oddest meal ever consumed by anyone in a public restaurant.
Can you do any better?

It seems a lot less weird if you misread “olf” as “elf.” Those elf boys are weird, lemme tell you. 😛
I used to eat all manner of weird things. As a kid, there was a period during which I routinely ate ketchup mixed with cottage cheese. Yeah, go figure.

When my mother was pregnant with my little brother, she would regularly order cheesecake with pickle relish and jalapeño peppers for dessert at restaurants.

In a restaurant - my elder son LOVES fried shrimp, but only the crunchy tails. He thinks the actual meat is poison. You should see the looks we get from other diners as we toss him our leftovers…
At home - last New Year’s Eve, we went shopping for our annual feast, and I told the kids they could choose whatever they wanted. Younger one chose fried chicken, egg sushi and some sweets. Elder one chose salt pickled cucumbers and plain yoghurt… He could not be persuaded to change or add anything, and ate it with every sign of relish.

Well, with gas prices as they are you gotta save where you can I guess.

I used to take the canned cranberry sauce that you only see at Thanksgiving and very carefully cut it into squares and mix them with the mashed potatoes. Made a nice color contrast if nothing else.
