tv news reports that the airline will give $10,000 to each survivor. people will still be allowed to sue for other compensation. ---

The flight crew’s names are – Co-pilot and Pilot-in-Command: Captain Lee Jeong-min (Hangul: 이정민; Hanja: 李鄭閔) – Pilot (captain’s position): Captain Lee Kang-kook (이강국; 李江鞠) But I just love the KTVU Channel 2 news report that listed the crew as: – Captain Sum Ting Wong – Wi Tu Lo – Ho Lee Fuk – Bang Ding Ow [This video still cracks me up!](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaOkTKfxu44) ---

The function of a checkride pilot is to certify pilots. If they can’t fly the plane then the whole system breaks down. All the times I was handed emergency situations as a student pilot the phrase “fly the plane” was hammered into me. I just can’t imagine watching the scene unfold right in front of them and doing nothing. ---
