Planet Fitness is a horrible gym. The ones I’ve been to are dirty, have no air conditioning, and broken machines. They also make it almost impossible to cancel a membership.
They market to newbies who have no gym knowledge on purpose. They’re easier to
scam. It’s like opening an investment firm and catering to first time investors only.

Observation: this is a zombie thread.
Observation: **Ambivalid** appears to REALLY like the phrase “best shape of his/her life.” I wonder what that’s all about.
Comment: 80-pound dumbbells? :eek: Where I work, that would call for a two-person team lift. Again I say: :eek:
Question: Somebody upthread mentioned working on a C25K. What is that, exactly, a weight-training machine of some type?

C25K - Couch To 5 Kilometers, its a training programme aimed at couch potatoes to get them fit to run a 5k race in 6 weeks.

It sounds like their business model is based on members never making progress in their physical fitness, so they keep their PF membership forever. I guess some people work out to get results and some just like having a place to hang out.

Every gym counts on the “keep members forever” model. Fitness is a lifestyle, not an end point. Nobody serious about fitness ever looks in the mirror and says, “Whelp, I’ve reached my goal. Cancel my membership because I’ll never have to do another workout again.”
