Surgery of any kind has always scared me and creeped me out. The idea that someone would actually have someone _cut into their body_ and fuck around with their insides  if their life didn’t depend on it is one I still haven’t totally gotten used to. So, obviously, no.

Learn to read. I referring to her desire to change her nose.

OH… that. Yes, I agree. I, too, think a lot of people getting nose jobs have perfectly acceptable noses that need no changing.

On the other hand - it’s their body, not mine. If they aren’t asking anyone else to pay for it I don’t feel I can say much about it. If they ask I’ll say there’s nothing about their nose that bothers _me_, but if it bothers _them_…

I just hope they don’t go all Michael Jackson about it.

Yes, I would. I have, well, lumps and bumps that I would like to get rid of. Won’t get into the TMI stuff, but they bother me and I’d like to get rid of the things if I had the extra capital.

Nah. Anyone who’s ever seen me knows I don’t much care about my appearance. I have no debilitating deformations or horrifying scars. Looks just aren’t important to me.

> Listen to me. I sound like everyone’s third grade teacher. “You’re beautiful just the way you are,” and etc corniness, but it’s true. I know what some of you people look like, even if not in person, and am a little taken aback by some posters’ lack of satisfaction with their appearances. I mean so much so that if there were time and money lying around, they’d do something about it. I don’t even think I’m pretty but just don’t care and identify with my face \*way \*too much to want to alter it, and then I see all these silly pretty people saying how they’d change this or that. Silliness! Pure silliness.

I have to agree after looking at **Glory’s** picture that she is a lovely lady, and I don’t see anything to fix on her nose. It’s a nice nose with some character, not a boring old Barbie nose.

Well, **MOL** is going to scowl at me but I would get a lot done if I could. Breast lift (maybe implants? but smallish ones, just to fill out), tummy tuck, lipo… I’d like to get my face thinned up, I have a fat face. Also, I have bags under my eyes. Can they fix that? I want that too.

I’ll almost certainly never do any of it. If I had money to burn, I’d get laser surgery on my eyes first. But, yeah, I think about it. If I had money to burn, sure.

For people who are so freaked out and keep saying that they identify too much with their face to alter it, I’d like to present a nice quote from V for Vendetta.

“Evey, please. . .there is a face beneath this mask, but it’s not me. I’m no more that face than I am the muscles beneath it, or the bones beneath them.”

Your face is NOT you, IMHO. It is an avatar, a representation. If people want to change it, it’s really no different than changing your shirt or your hairstyle (although, quite a bit more expensive and a lot more permanent).

Oh yeah, I forgot about this. I’m adding this to the list. Goodbye, contacts and goodbye, eyeglass nose dents.

And a tummy tuck, too. After I lose a few pounds, of course. But not via lipo. There’s no substitute for \*working \*off those pounds and replacing fat with muscle tone. It’s look even better after the trimming.

Sorry, **MOL**. I mostly like the way I look…except for some minor adjustments. :o

Yes, except I wouldn’t describe her nose as having character, not because it doesn’t, but because that sounds like a bad euphemism. I know you didn’t mean it that way, just sayin.

How can I _not_ identify with my face? It’s how you pick me out in a crowd, not by my sense of humor, or my shirt or my hairstyle. No, my face is not me, and I’d be the same person if it were altered somehow, but I can’t help but to identify with it, and I’m sure when people think about me, my face is the first or second thing to come to mind.

If this were some type of Skald the Rhymer hypothetical wherein a mad surgeon forced me to change at least one thing via plastic surgery, I’d make a point of ensuring that thing wasn’t on my head anywhere.

It definitely has more character than I’d like! 🙂

Sure, I would love to un-character it up a little, but I would really think about it even if money were no object. I definitely needed the jaw surgery and I love the results, but I have some permanent numbness in my chin/left lip. So, I know that even wildly successful surgery can still have long term issues.

</div>

**I’m very reluctant to get any sort of plastic surgery, but…**

I’d like to get LASIK so that I wouldn’t be required to wear glasses or contacts in order to see the world.

I also really hate my stomach and have found that there’s a stubborn layer of fat on my lower stomach that has never really gone away, regardless of how thin I was everywhere else. If I weren’t so terrified of bad results, I’d get rid of it in a heartbeat. I do, however, realize that I’m heavier than they’d probably want me to be for doing liposuction, so I’d probably be stuck with a tummy tuck procedure instead.

Yeah, I know - I didn’t mean it in a euphemistic way, but I couldn’t think of a better way to say, “It looks like **Glory’s** nose, not some generic “I picked this nose out of a catalogue” nose.”

I guess I could have said that. 🙂

Definitely not, unless I got involved in some sort of horrendous accident which necessitated it medically.

No desire to take the risks associated with surgery for the sake of vanity.

No, but not because I’m somehow satisfied with how I look. It’s just that I don’t see the places where plastic surgery can actually help as being a problem, and I don’t like unnecessary surgery.
