# Playing mpg and avi files on a dvd player

How do i convert avi’s and mpg’s so that they will play on a dvd player.Is there some software i can download?

You’ll probably want to convert to VCD/CD-V (V=video); most DVD players can play this format. Make sure that your player can read CD-R or CD-RW blanks; many of the older models can’t. Go to [www.download.com](http://www.download.com) and search for “VCD”; you should find what you need with a minimal amount of work.

whoops, I meant to say “make sure your player can read CD-R or CD-RW **disks**.” Obviously it won’t be able to read blanks…:smack:

PS2 cannot play vcds. Its prossible to kinda of jerry-rig a mpeg2 to play on it but you only get ten minutes of video.

Funny, what it can play is written right on the top of the ps2 itself.
