# Playstation playing dopers :which option?

So I ran across a bunch of Japanese import discs, and understand they are a blast to play. I bough one of e-bay along with sometihng to play them on it. Unfortunately the thing doesnt have an I/O port. So I can for $7 or so, switch it for an older one (pre 9\*\*\*\*) series, or I can plunk down 25 for a boot disc to use the darn fool import games. Is the newer model of old playstation siginifigantly better, or should I take the older one? Or is there another option?
