As noted by another poster, the most important consideration here (and in general, for a variety of crimes) is neither of those goals, but rather separation from society.

Not that people haven’t successfully [engaged in scams from prison](https://www.rd.com/article/prisoner-jury-duty-scam/), but it’s commonly tougher than if you were on the outside.
