I entirely agree with the specific disagreements with the new Pit rules. A fun point. If, say, Bricker were actually George Bush, in disguise, we could tell the former president to go fuck himself, until such time as he revealed himself. This sort of has potential for unwelcome gotcha-yas. ---

I think that would be an excellent idea, because I don’t see this - ahem - speculation ending any time soon, unless Ed steps in to quell it with the reasons why. And hopefully he will listen and react positively to what is put to him. ---

These changes are misguided and short-sighted. I trust they’ll play out in ways that will show how stupid they are in short order. ---

Yeah, if it mattered what the peanut gallery thought about it, the FAQ thread where he responded to questions about the new rules would have been made before the rules were in place, not sometime after. ---

Well, if I were **Ed** I think I would want to wait and see what questions and concerns actually arose before composing my FAQ. This so as to answer genuine concerns and questions rather than those I imagined, and perhaps to not omit those that might arise which I hadn’t thought of. Just saying… ---

And I suspect that **Giraffe and fluid** were quite able to articulate the concerns and probability of success of these changes. It’s not like this is a new board. It’s an established community. I agree that communities change as they grow, but I would point out that the Pit is already quite a bit tamer since the old days. ---

Why even have the pit if you’re going to impose these rules? Seriously, I’d rather see the whole gosh darn forum dissappear. It serves absolutely no purpose anymore. Fiddlesticks. ---

The Pit used to be for genuine flames. Between the fact that the community has mellowed, and Ed has decided to turn into the Lady’s Sewing Circle and Tea Social, the Pit is basically a worthless forum. Why not just abolish it and have MPSIMS has a catch-all at this point? I don’t see why RO threads (which will be all the Pit is good for anymore) can’t be put in MPSIMS. It’s not like profanities are banned there (yet. I expect they probably will be soon). ---

One of my mother’s favorite songs is “Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'Round the Old Oak Tree”. Although she is not fond of the last verse where “the whole damn bus is cheerin’”. Because, there is no need for that sort of language. If anyone would like my mother to apply for the next opening in Pit moderating, I’ll inquire about her availability. Note: she does not know how to use a mouse, if this is a problem.
