# Please Date my Mother's Gefilte Fish

I am pretty sure that **King of Soup** just plagiarized those lyrics from one of countless Jewish lyricists that express their faith with parodies about Passover food and seafood of questionable quality in general. It is as if originality has fallen victim to completely predictable recipes.

**King of Soup** , nice poetic job. If that isn’t based on something else, that little number has some of the strongest lyrical tempo and beat that I have ever seen. The market for new Gefiltefish songs is saturated right now but you could redo that song as a great one.

It’s easy, I suppose, to reiterate song lyrics sometimes, but–

Substantiate that, retract it, or duck. _Now_. I’m pretty tolerant of idiotic insults, but plagiarism isn’t something of which I’ll be casually accused. Name the person I stole from and quote the verses I stole, or apologize in capital letters without excuse or qualification.

I think you need to read that again. I even put a “seriously” underneath it and gave you an honest compliment.

The joke was a variation on the “You know the story. Same old master gefilte fish song.”

I honestly did think it was good and striking work too and I don’t usually compliment those things. I could almost hear Weird Al singing it as a hit song.

**Shagnasty** , I apologize. The word “plagiarism” next to my username set me off, and the referenced joke wasn’t one I knew. Perhaps it’s my own fault for venturing into humorous territory with which I wasn’t sufficiently familiar.

In any event, I’m proud enough of my occasional wit to be oversensitive when questions are raised as to its provenance. Forgive me for attacking a windmill I mistook for a giant. I can’t undo it, but I’ll try hard not to do it again.
