And of course most of this hinged on Kim Bauer still being up and sneaking out a few minutes after midnight.  
What if she’d gone to bed at 11:00 pm and fallen asleep?

Then there would have been a plan “B”. Those two guys were hired to lure those girls out. If it hadn’t worked, I suspect we would have just seen a frontal assault on the house like they did later.
