No one wants to discuss the plot in the spoiler thread. Ugh. They’d rather point out all the ways how it’s not realistic. Guess I’ll just c’mon over here and not talk about 24. I mean, does implausibility in the story bother you? I just immerse myself in the characters and dig the suspense. Cause, see, it’s fiction. I think I acclimated myself with _All My Children_ in college. Goofy twists in the plot don’t detract from my enjoyment. In fact, I like 'em. What would really happen in the real world would most likely be unwatchable. ---

Damn, the server keeps eating my posts. Let’s try that again… So, when we finally watch “24” are we still going to talk about it in here, or is this thread solely devoted to not talking about “24”? It is technically supposed to be a spoiler-free thread, and I think UncleBeer would blow a gasket if we started filling up page 4 with spoilers. On the other hand, it was only Knead that didn’t want the spoilers, and once he watches the show, he’ll want all the explanations he can get, I would imagine. After all, we are all just a bunch of morons with our collective heads in the sand. What say you, 24 Club? ---

I believe that I shall submit a request on behalf of the organization that this thread be closed once the final episode airs. That will put poor **Montfort** out in the cold until Planet Express can get the tapes to him, but I think it’ll be the only right thing to do. Once the viewing of the episodes begins, I imagine I’ll fire up a _Please, please, PLEASE discuss “24” with me_ thread, the mission of which will be to facilitate a completionist’s interpretation of the show, without all the petty rabbling about minor plot twists, etc., which might cloud the more short-sighted conversations taking place in other threads. 😃 FTR, **Billy** , plot twists are what thrillers are all about, so like you I think I take them as they come. ---

Tape 4 of 4 ready to go, clubbers? I’m out to see the home opener of the Charlotte Knights tonight, so I hope I have time to get home and get mine queued up properly. I hate taking a tape out of the box and using it immediately. I like to fast forward through it once and then rewind it again to get it all evened out. Anybody else share this particular delusion of control? 🙂 ---

The fast-forward/rewind preparation of a tape is called “unpacking” in the audio taping world. Supposedly it more evenly distributes the lubricant over the whole spool of tape. I always do it if I have time. One example of “delusion of control” was CDR traders admonishing people for using a Sharpie to label the discs. They said the ink contained chemicals which would eventually damage the disc. “Only write on the inner plastic ring of a CDR,” they’d insist. Thankfully the myth was debunked. I never bought it for a second, needless to say. ::pats self on back:: ---

If you have Time Warner Digital Cable, and you have the box programmed to always come on at a specific time on a particular day of the week, to like, you know, _tape something you really want to see later_ or something, and then all the clocks in your country change time, including the little clock built into the box … it is not safe to assume that the box is smart enough to know that your show still comes on at the same time it did before. For reasons I cannot possibly fathom, my VCR Timer on my cable box turned itself on and tuned in the proper channel _exactly one hour late_. Sheesh. Technology, huh? ---

Which certainly makes it much easier for all the TV stations, as they have to hour-delay absolutely everything that is on television. Now, if I want to know who got voted off of Survivor before the show starts, I just have to call New York (preferably someONE in NY who watched the show…). Boy, finals sure are fun! ---
