Shhh! Don’t tell him about Omaha high-low.
What about one-eyed Witchita fizzbin?
“One-eyed jacks and dueces are wild and I don’t know if I’m winnin’ or losin’ this godamned dumb game!”
(Insert your own Pulp Fiction joke here)
Seriously, people really play 6-card stud?
I thought 6-card stud was like 7-card stud except with only one hole card; i.e. each player tried to make the best 5-card hand with the 6 cards he/she was dealt.
Does 6-card stud really use all 6 cards to make a hand, so that 3 pair and a 6-card straight flush are possible?
Oh, yes. Nothing like having your quad aces busted by quad threes with a pair kicker.
I’ve never heard of 6 card stud. I suppose you could do it at home if you wanted to have more than seven players playing 7 card stud, but even then you would want to stick with 5 card hands to keep the arguements down (“No, a six card flush beats three pair” “Does not!” “Does too!”). Never in a card room or casino.
Weigh the sleeveful and divide by the number of chips it contains.
Now that this has become a general poker hijack I wanted to share something that didn’t rate its own thread, Now I know that given the millions of hands dealt online you will see most everyting eventually, but this was rather extraordinary.

Not only did I make the seven card straight flush, but if you count the other guy we made eight cards to the straight flush. Next day I flopped a royal.
Bad luck that smokinmunges didn’t get the King.
No game, not even Guts, makes me want to drink bleach more than Omaha. What sadistic bastard invented this? Trips in the hole! Yay! Except you can’t actually play them all, sucker!
Then, later in this thread:
Color me .
I actually like playing Omaha hi-lo but I would never play it for any serious money. I play online for play money sometimes and lose bundles and bundles. Just for fun I stopped in at a real money table last week and after 45 minutes I was up 15 cents. I got the hell out and counted myself lucky.
That’s exactly why people call those games! When you throw in oddball stuff (ever play three-card hold-'em where you have to discard a hole card after the flop?) and wild cards, everyone who can’t think on their feet gets slaughtered. They either drop out after the ante (thus donating their ante to the pot), or stay in and don’t know what they’re doing.
I like playing straight poker, but I when I’m playing with people who can’t figure things out on the fly, those wild cards and things give me quite an edge.
If you live near a casino that has live poker, you can get racks of their chips to use in your home game. They are high quality, and you can return them for the purchace price, even without a recipt You lose the interest on the $100-200 for the time you have them, but this is less than purchase price for your own chips. You also have the risk that the casino will change chips and stop accepting the old ones before you return them, but it is my belief that casinos must give many months notice before doing something like this.
I just jokingly used ‘Full House Royale’ as a fancy name for a hand that isn’t a real poker hand.
I hate the oddball stuff too. I like five card draw for playing among friends at a small table.
I’m suprised no one picked up that the original quote was from a movie, Madelyn Kahn was the dealer and her kidnappers were getting their asses handed to them because she had conjured up all these cheesy wild card games.
