Just now, I saw a plant I’ve never seen before. It was a small tree, with egg shaped fruits that were turning red with dark purple striations. Please excuse the aphids, it’s not in my garden or it’d have ladybugs to the rescue.

[Here is the foliage,](http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd69/brujaja/KIMG0321_zpsrhh7dput.jpg) and [here is the fruit.](http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd69/brujaja/KIMG0320_zps7b3pf5zy.jpg)

Thanks!

I agree with tamarillo, aka tree tomato _Solanum betaceum_. [Fruit.](http://www.gardeningknowhow.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/tomato-tree1-400x266.jpg)

I think you’re cute for apologizing on behalf of someone else’s aphid infestation. The gardeners equivalent of having spinach in your teeth. 🙂

Aha! That’s exactly what it is.

There may be one less fruit on that tree tomorrow. Er, in the interest of science. 🙂
