It’s “Dancing Queen”. I have no idea why I’m singing it, but I just realized that I was sitting here at the reference desk ever so slightly bobbing my head to the tune and singing it under my breath. I’m mortified. Really. I hope no one noticed. ---

A few years ago, my brother introduced me to a novel way to remove an _ohrwurm_ from one’s head. The problem is that the cure is often worse than the affliction. If you hum “Karma Chameleon” by Culture Club, it’s guaranteed to replace any tune whatsoever in your head. How you get rid of _that_ though, I have no idea. I myself haven’t been able to shift the song “Hackensack” by Fountains of Wayne for an entire MONTH now. I only heard it once, too. ---

I always tend to get stupid ditties from Flash animations stuck in my head. [Hats for Clowns](http://www.weebl.jolt.co.uk/trim.htm) lasted two days, which wasn’t too bad, but four days of the [Musk Ox Cleaning Song](http://www.rathergood.com/blode3/) nearly drove me round the twist. ---

**How many tmes do I have to tell you people???** The sure-fire way of getting a song out of your head is to sing _Amazing Grace_ to the tune of _Gilligan’s Island_! The mental excercise of thinking of the lyrics of one and the tune of the other tends to cancel out the musicality of it all. Well, unless you’re like me who’s practiced it enough that I just get “Gilligan’s Grace” stuck in my head. ---

I had just seen Arthur Treacher on “The Beverly Hillbillies,” and it reminded me of the stirring rendition of this song which he gave (in crown and robes, no less!) on “The Merv Griffin Show” when he was co-host. ---

i just got back from a gig we played at, and i got this amazing song from the headliners (who go by the wierd name ‘sofa king high’. like ‘king prawn’ (if you know who they are) but much faster and more agressive, and with added samples :)). they’re so good, but damn them!!! ---
