I volunteer for Oklahoma’s statewide Special Olympics every year. On the second day of the event, there’s a BIG dance held on a high school football field. There will be thousands of participants there. I like to dress up as a well known character and walk throughout the crowd giving away tons of hugs and having countless selfies taken with the athletes. I’ve gone as Mario from the Nintendo game a couple of times. Last year, I went as Buzz Lightyear. Both characters were VERY well received. I’d like to go as someone different this year and am looking for suggestions. Criteria (more or less): Someone or something that it pretty much instantly recognizable. Preferably not scary. My co-worker has gone as Deadpool, Donkey Kong, and Rocket Racoon and they’ve well received but he has scared a few athletes unintentionally and I don’t want to do that. Buying a costume is what I’m looking to do. I’m not skilled enough to make something or do a lot of fancy makeup. I’m a big guy, 6’1", 240 pounds so nothing for the skinny. Suggestions? My co-worker is going as Captain Jack Sparrow but mine doesn’t need to be related to his. ---

It seems the limiting factor would be the availability of a costume. We could all agree that Barney the Dinosaur (or Ronald MacDonald or C3PO or …) would be a great character for the athletes but it doesn’t matter if there isn’t a costume to buy, rent or make. ---
