Friends, Please join me in celebrating the life of Dawn, a horse. My farmer friend, at the farm where I used to board my own horse, called to tell me the news. He had called the veterinarian, who did the kind thing. Dawn was not mine, but I knew her well. She was always even-tempered, and a pleasant horse to deal with. It is always difficult to deal with an animal’s death. Please spare a few thoughts for Dawn, if you can. ---

Horses can be amazing creatures. My husband was astounded to encounter one who wanted to snuggle up and otherwise acted like a dog. I’m sorry for the passing of such a wonderful beast. ---

giving you and anyone knowing Dawn, my sincere condolences and wishes … she sounds like that she had a amazing personality and anyone knowing of her was blessed w/ her presences … its always hard in the beginning of a passing and the only ones should be the pleasant thoughts of time(s) that were spent together … ---

My sincerest condolences to you and Dawn’s family. She will live on in their hearts. Blessings upon them for doing the right thing by her in her time of need. It’s a very hard decision sometimes. ---

Sorry for the loss of a majestic animal, losing animal family members is just as hard as losing the human variety ☹ I always thought horses were relatively dumb, until Mom told me this tale of one of her horses… The horse had lived a long happy life, loved, well cared for, but she was nearing the end of her life, was foundering, and could barely support herself in her stall, mom called the vet that evening, to do the kind thing… That evening, before the vet arrived, and with mom comforting the horse, who was now laying on her side in the stall, breathing hard, struggling for life, the horse, with Herculean effort, pulled herself out of her stall, into the walkway between the stalls, looked at mom with an “it’s okay” look on her face, rested her head in Mom’s lap, and passed from this life… Somehow, that horse _knew_ if she died in her stall, it would have been difficult to get her body out, her last deed was to make it easy to remove her from the barn for burial, her last deed was to help Mom, faithful to the last. I guess horses aren’t dumb after all… ---

My condolences. There is no sweeter place than a stable and nothing more beautiful than a horse in motion or head up sniffing the wind. ---

I lost Bob on New Year’s Eve and the pain is still there. But we do what’s right for them, not necessarily what is right for us. Bob always got along with mares, so Dawn is now part of his group at the bridge, getting carrots from my mom. Peace to you. ---
