Why not just remove the entire door chime assembly? It has no function at this point other than to annoy you.
We had a similar problem a few years ago, in the fall. Turns out that box elder bugs had decided that the light inside our doorbell button was nice and warm, and several had crawled into it, and were creating a short/path for electricity to continually move between the 2 wires. Besides the 2 wires actually touching, it’s possible that something else is creating that bridge.
I turned the power off to change a light switch and flipped off extra breakers including my doorbell and when I turned my power back on my door bell started buzzing, pretty loud too. Is it safe? Should I turn the breaker back off? No work was done the the doorbell chime but the light switches were below it. Any advice? I would apprecaite. Thank you
