Not speaking from experience, but AIUI dandruff shampoos work by being mildly damaging to skin, so that any loose skin that might flake off during the day, instead comes off during the shampooing. Considering that the skin in question, when talking about masturbation, tends to be some of the most sensitive, and with a particularly thin layer of dead skin above the live skin layer, plus an abundance of sensory nerves in the live skin layer, what is a painless astringent on the scalp, can for some people be a far more… noticeable affair on other skin surfaces. ETA: This is meant as an answer to the question asked about why dandruff shampoo might not be everyone’s favorite personal lube. ---

Okay, this reminds me of a story. I know a guy who likes to tell it. I hesitate to tell it, but I don’t think it’s worse than the rest of this thread. I swear to you it wasn’t me. It really, really was not. You know it wasn’t me, because I don’t do anal sex. I can tell you from experience that masturbating in the shower is a bad idea. I ruined two DVD players and a computer before I figured that out. ---

Dandruff shampoo has much stronger active ingredients in it, making it all that much worse. I only had to make the shampoo mistake once in my young life, and judging by what dandruff shampoo makes my head feel like, I’m glad I never used it to make an “experimental” mistake. ---
