Is this about the “tough cops and military and bikers are all on my side” statement, or did he say something even worse today?

I would, but it wouldn’t do any good. One senator is running for president (like all the others, on a strongly anti-Trump platform). The other is a high muckety-muck in the leadership and is as anti-Trump as anyone.
As for my representative, some of those on the far left dismiss him as a conservative (which he is not), but he is completely anti-Trump too: an email from him last month began “Trump’s State of the Union address was a disgrace to the office of the Presidency. It was divisive, hateful, and did NOT reflect our values.”
If you’re in CO I suppose you might be able to influence Cory Gardner; Bennet doesn’t need your encouragement to do the right thing. Don’t know who your Congressperson is.
I wish it was as easy as just asking the lawmakers to act.

Then again, as Thomas Becket learned to his chagrin, “Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?” wasn’t anyone’s idea of a figment. And we know from multiple sources that this turbulent president very often speaks in circumlocutions just like this, rather than coming out and saying exactly what he means.

It’s good to offer words of support to your allies, lest they begin to think that all the letters coming from the other side are representative of your district.
If not a letter urging them to oppose Trump, send a letter thanking them for supporting your cause.

Trump has directly and explicitly praised or threatened violence on multiple occasions, entirely unapologetically. With that fact in mind, it seems pretty reasonable to interpret this latest allusion as yet another threat of violence.

I dunno what he meant with his “tough people” statement, but I took it as a not very subtle [del]hint[/del] threat to … someone (I’ve only seen that statement out of context thus far). But it still has a feeling of impotent bluster about it. He has truly convinced himself it’s just rhetoric, and he doesn’t really think it will happen, well except for the bikers. Those are the people he’s counting on in this statement. Those are my impressions so far.

I called my senator today, this is how it went:
Raftpeople: “Hey, Trump is advocating violence, you should do something”
Senator: “Ok, I would love to help. What did Trump say or do?”
Raftpeople: “uh, well I heard from **enipla** that he is advocating violence”
Senator: “Who is **enipla**?”
Raftpeople: “Uh…a poster on the internet”
Senator: “And why do you trust **enipla**?”
Raftpeople: “Because he or she has 13,000 posts”
Senator: “Well, ok, what did **enipla** say happened?”
Raftpeople: “Uh…he didn’t”
Senator: “I see. Well, I sincerely appreciate your efforts, and please thank **enipla** for me, the contribution to our society is immeasurable, but I do need to get back to work now.”

Basically if you have Democratic representatives, they’re already opposed to Trump and if you have conservatives, they’re going to roll over and show their belly as soon as Trump says “Boo”. Best you’ll get are toothless show votes of “defiance” like the emergency acts vote in the senate (where the only Republican who voted against Trump and has a 2020 election was Collins, who is desperate to pretend to be moderate in a tough cycle).

That way there is a record of those who oppose him so that he can advocate violence against us? 😉
I like to write, and I’ve actually sent off many letters to my congress critters long before Trump. I’ve been slightly more active in contacting them about my concerns about the direction that I feel the country is going since Trump assumed office, I only once before ever actually called a congressman, and in the last two years, I’ve got a half dozen or so calls in to not only my congressional representative (R), but to my senators as well, (R and D).
But, I have done so based on actual policies or votes that I want to make my opinion known on. In this case, everyone already knows that Trump encourages his supporters to violence. Republicans will pretend to not notice it, and Democrats already know it and condemn it.
I’m not sure what I would write, much less say if I called, to bring anyone attention to these concerns.
