Pie was much more responsive tonight. She tried to smile, and was much more interested in eye contact, and singing than before. She had another fever spike, but it was brief. Kidneys seem to be OK, output wise. When I left her, she was sleeping, and seemed comfortable, rather than exhausted. I am functioning fairly well, myself, too. Teakettle is on, although a glass of wine may well put the tea on the back burner. My brother the Doctor (which is how I’m suppose to refer to him) is being a lot of help, as well. My sisters have all threatened to come see me, whether I want them to or not. I worry about my youngest son, since his sources of information are stretched around the world. His brothers have been relaying, as well as the emails I have sent him. The folks on line, (here, and the Pizza Parlor) have responded so warmly and are the best part of having this place to come to. I’m glad **Pie** didn’t have a heart attack, **Tris** , and that you’ll be able to visit her. It sounds like **Pie** is getting excellent medical care but seeing each other will do both of you a world of good too. I won’t say what I think of your ex-wife’s tactics because thoughts should center on the positive right now. I’m just so glad the hospital won’t interfere with you and **Pie** being together. Pie rested well last night. She was still responsive this morning, although she is still very tired. The Pulmonologist made the first changes in her ventilator settings, the first steps toward getting her breathing on her own. Her condition is stable, and improving slowly. Her Xrays are “Holding their own” although I don’t know exactly what that means. Tris ---

I think **Shirley** ’s got it on the definition. Sometimes just “not getting worse” is a good thing. I’m glad to hear of what improvements have been happening, and I’m relieved to hear they won’t block you from seeing her. ---

Pie was a bit more awake this afternoon. Attentive to her surroundings. Pissed off, just a little bit too, which I consider a positive sign. Her tube feeding rate is up again, and evidently still tolerated well. No further changes other than numbers, which I am told are all OK. The pit of my stomach is still aching. Everyone is very compassionate, and I have lots of offers of help. Trouble is, I don’t know what help to ask for. The prayers are coming from a lot of folks. (Thank you, Lord, and sorry for all the racket.) Tris ---

Pie is taking some breaths on her own, now, although still on the ventilator, and still with pretty high O[sub]2[/sub] levels. She moved her hands just a tiny bit, and gripped very lightly. She seemed very attentive to her surroundings, and was happy to see me. She had her eye on the hospital staff, too. The feeding rate is up again, as well, and she is still tolerating it. Pie is stable. No significant changes last night. She was pretty tired this morning, when I saw her. I just watched her sleep, for an hour. Any other news is about things that have nothing to do with Pie, and are not fit to print in MPSIMS. I really want to just let all that go away.
