What the everloving fuck is wrong with the moderation team here? Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you? People like you are what keeps the United States in the early twentieth century. Pull your goddamn collective heads out of your fat asses and look around you. READ YOUR OWN FUCKING MESSAGE BOARD.
Fuck you. Fuck this goddamn backward, bigoted, pedophile loving administration. Fuck you.
Just because I tell you about it doesn’t mean I support it. I’m telling you that’s what happened.
It was wrong then and it’s wrong now. But nothing was ever done about it.
For all the claims of “that couldn’t happen” well, it did.

Your post was grotesque. Nobody said “that couldn’t happen.” Your response was so bizarrely off-topic that nobody could predict you meant it to respond to a thing people didn’t say.
You should take a step back and reflect.
Memory’s a tricky thing sometimes, isnit?
My remembrances (50 years later) was that they were never charged. They were indicted and prosecution was sought but you are correct, the case was dismissed. They never served a day for murdering people.
So my point still stands. They did a wrong thing – they fired on unarmed civilians exercising their right to free speech and assembly.

If only someone had reminded them that they must disobey an unlawful order, and if only they’d listened, nobody would have died that day.
But hey, I get it, no calls to action.
No one claimed that you supported it. No one claimed that it couldn’t happen. This response is just strange.
This is a bit of a weird and weirdly tolerated pile on over nothing really.
Well, this board does have a history of banning outright pedophiles. At least give them that.
Eventually.
No it doesn’t. Have you actually read the act? It’s not long:
So no, it isn’t “no using the army to fire on civilians, period”; it’s “no using the army to fire on civilians except as permitted by law”. And should the orders to fire be given in this case, it will be argued that the pre-existing Insurrection Act is the authorizing legislation. (Note that I’m not saying that it is right to use the army to fire on civilians, just that the executive has a very plausible legal argument to make that it is permissible in this case.)
Agreed. There’s about half a dozen people in this thread literally losing their minds in real-time. It’s weirdly fascinating.
They are testing insurrection theory about being too many to sanction.
AIUI, the board has an abhorrence of risking being sued because even frivolous lawsuits must be answered, even if the answer is a guaranteed successful petition to the court that the lawsuit be thrown out. That pretty much would necessitate the involvement of legal counsel, which the board does not have the resources to acquire. The actual owners of this message board would surely pull the plug before they spent a cent on legal representation for us.
So there’s no call to attribute “we don’t want to get sued” to the board with any kind of sneering tone.
Moderator Warning
Pitting moderators is not allowed, especially in ATMB.
ATMB posts are expected to be reasonably polite and respectful. While I am generally tolerant of people being upset, this post is just way too far over the line.
This is an official warning for inappropriate behavior in ATMB.
This is also an official warning for attacking the moderation staff.
Given the severity of this, I am also giving you a three day suspension. If you continue to post like this in ATMB when you return, we will be forced to discuss your posting privileges here.
Moderator Note
Let’s dial it back on comments like this. Don’t attack the entire staff because you are upset with one ruling.
Feel free to discuss this issue (reasonably politely, this is ATMB), but don’t make sweeping insults against the entire staff. This applies to everyone in this thread.
Please clarify, as the rules in the pit specify:
I would assume that a mod’s actions as a moderator are not pit-able, but outside those functions a mod can be pitted? But that’s not exactly what you stated.
?
This is ATMB where the policies of mods are commented on the community and either revised or supported by (including by passive assent without objection) the other mods. If the only opinions expressed by moderation staff are consistent with the criticism then it is very fair to characterize that as the position of the moderation team as a group, whether not all expressed and affirmed the opinion.
This may be just a note but given that the poster it is placed on has recently come off suspension even a note can be significant. This incorrect one should be reversed.
Please consider doing so.
That is correct. The restriction against pitting moderators only applies to moderation. It does not apply to actions outside of that.
Apologies for any confusion.
If you want to attack the policies, that’s fine. That’s what ATMB is for. But taking it to the extreme of saying that the entire moderation staff is so evil that we are advocating shooting unarmed civilians is a little too close to an outright attack on the staff.
In other words, it’s along the same lines as attacking the post and not the poster. Feel free to attack the policies, but don’t attack or insult the entire staff.
CarnalK’s posting privileges are not in jeopardy. It’s just a note. A lot of folks in this thread are having a fairly extreme emotional reaction. The note is just a reminder to all that it’s not open season on the staff. Be respectful and let’s try to resolve the issues.
