# Please recommend a book on the Spanish Civil War

Hey guys,

I’m sorta interested in learning more about the Spanish Civil War. Can anyone recommend a good book on the subject?

[The Battle for Spain](http://www.amazon.com/Battle-Spain-Spanish-Civil-1936-1939/dp/014303765X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1224163427&sr=8-1) by Anthony Beevor is excellent and modern.

You could also try [Homage to Catalonia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homage_to_Catalonia).

It’s an account of the experiences of a soldier who served in the POUM militia and, IMO, he can certainly write.
