I’m going to visit the U. of Penn soon. I’ll fly into Philly, and I don’t want to rent a car. Can anyone recommend a hotel within walking distance or a relatively short bus or cab ride from Penn’s campus? I’d like to try to keep it under $100.

Thank you in advance.

I meant $100/night, if that wasn’t clear.

You’ll have a tough time as most hotel rates in cities start around 120/night.

Here is link to the hotels closest to UPENN:

There are a couple of hotels there under $100.

You could also check here: [http://www.gophila.com/accommodations/](http://www.gophila.com/accommodations/)

They sometimes have cheap specials on here.

I can vouch for all the hotels on the Penn Page as being fine. You can get a cab/train to all these hotels from the airport/trainstation. And most you could walk to from 30th Street Station.

You should eat at the White Dog Cafe.

Can a Philadelphian confirm that [the “University Area” shown on this map](http://www.priceline.com/hotels/Lang/en-us/images%5Cregionmaps%5C381.gif) is the UPenn area? If someone can, you may as well try Priceline, **ryanbobo**.

Yup, that’s the area around Penn and Drexel.

Let us know when you’re coming, **ryanbobo** – we’re trying to do a monthly dinner (though we occasionally miss a month), and could schedule one for while you’re in town if you’d like to meet some local Dopers.

Thanks for the help, everyone. I actually found a really nice hotel near campus in Center City at 1/2 rate using a certain hotel booking website (I don’t know if I should name it so I don’t come across as advertising for them).

And thatks for the invitation, **twickster** , but I’ll only be in town for one night, and I already have plans for that evening. Drink a beer for me.
