They are practically standard issue when you move to some Colorado mountain towns, which is where I learned about them. I’ve got a pair of Hurricanes and two pair of flip-flops. They’re near-indestructible and I love them to pieces. ---

I personally think that white socks shouldn’t be allowed unless you’re in a gym or pursuing strenuous physical exercise. Actually, I feel the same way about sneakers. ---

I think ankle socks or lower are OK with sandals, sometimes. Learn to live a little - if socks infuriate your aesthetics, change to a caffeine free drink… 🙂 ---

Well, for me, the point is to be as close to being barefooted as possible. If you are wearing sandals and socks…why not just wear shoes? I see your point **Fear Itself** , but I would think that the air circulation (with your feet not being completely covered) would keep things from getting too rank. I have not had a problem with smelly sandals, and I figured this was the reason. Now, tennis shoes with no socks are a different story ☹ . ---

Okay, I wore Tevas and white socks once. In the early 90s. (For a lot longer than 20 minutes 😉 ) But only because I saw someone else do it and she was sooooo cool, and I thought I might be cool if I did it too. But then I had my picture taken in white socks and Tevas and I saw the picture and I ditched the Tevas AND the white socks along with the cool girl and the motherfucking camera! Alas, I have not been able to ditch the picture. ---
