[old-timer voice]When I was a boy…[/old-timer voice] - illustrations of the planets were based either on blurry telescopic views or were simply featureless disks. It took 85 years but Pluto is finally something other than a blank. ---

I’ve bookmarked the Pitch Drop web cam. I rather like the news banners that scoll along the bottom of the screen, as they actually have links to stories with more detail. ---

I’ll be honest; I didn’t even think Pluto was a sphere. The blurry images I saw as a kid made me think it was just a rock at the edge of the solar system. These latest pictures are fascinating. ---

For some reason, I seem to be getting more amazed by some things as I’m getting older than I did when I was younger. I always used to take a lot of things for granted. Also, I’m just as amazed by what scientists are able to do as by the things that are being discovered. I guess it’s because that now that I’m a grown-up, I understand just how difficult life is. These guys sent a CAMERA to the OUTSKIRTS OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM! And actually had it pass directly by a piece of rock that is basically like a pebble in the Pacific Ocean. How the fuck do you do something like that? I mean, I can’t even work my washing machine. ---
