# Plz help with Word doc with wrong icon.

All of my \*.doc files have the icon for Microsoft Picture IT! express and I get an error everytime i click on one of these and it brings up an empty Picture IT screen. How do i reassign doc to the windows icon, or how do i get it to work any other way?

Here’s a shortcut:  
Hold down the Shift key and right-click on a Word document. Choose “Open with” from the menu that appears. From the list of programs, choose “Winword” and then check the box “Always use this program to open this type of file.”

That should re-establish the connection between the .doc extension and Word, which should correct the icon. If not, come back for the long version.
