Didn’t **Skald** once mention his church having belly dancing classes? If I remember correctly, you didn’t do it in front of men, but only in class. Is this like that? ---

Almost twenty years ago, a friend of a friend was dating a stripper, and she reported to us that several of her colleagues (not her) were Christians. It may be more common than either Christian or strip-club leadership wish to admit. ---

Where exactly in the church would the stripper pole be installed? On the dias with the preacher? In and amongst the choir? Or beside the organ? Or are there multiple ones throughout the pews so the congregation can express their fervent love for the Lord? ---

When you have one that sits quietly and listens to the pastor, mumbling their pre-scripted responses quietly and letting the choir sing (if they open their hymnal, its only to mouth the words), one pole is going to be sufficient. Probably up by the alter, and it can probably only be used by the female deacon of the pole. In a speaking in tongues congregation, where you are expected to act as the spirit moves you - and the spirit moves people a LOT, you probably need far more poles, you might want to move out the pews… ---

From the link, they aren’t actually dancing in church. Not that they couldn’t if some church wanted to try it, but no one seems to have gone that far. Right now, one lady has started a pole dancing class because she finds it spiritual and wants to encourage other women to exercise and find that same spirituality. They currently do it in her studio, though I suppose some of them might eventually get their own poles to use at home. Gangsters and child-rapers and drug-dealers will profess to be Christians, too.\* Heck, a fair number of them wear crosses on necklaces while they dance. The threshhold for being a christian is pretty thin (do you profess to believe in Jesus and God?), and people can rationalize all kinds of things to allow actions that are widely disparate from their nominal beliefs. * * * \*Not equating strippers with the above. Not at all. Just pointing out by extremes. ---
