Pole on Oversize Load pilot car

I knew the 11’8" bridge would make an appearance in this thread. If you look at the official YouTube channel from the guy who makes the videos, you’ll notice in the newer ones that the city has installed traffic lights just before the bridge. The lights turn red and display a warning when an overheight vehicle approaches, in theory giving the driver time to assess the situation. While it may have somewhat cut down on the frequency of crashes, the ones that do happen tend to be much more spectacular, as they are often caused by drivers who speed up to try to beat the light.

The guys driving rental box trucks at least have the excuse that they’re not used to driving a truck and having to worry about overhead clearance. But that video of the semi posted four months ago, he supposedly has a CDL and is supposed to know better.
