Lets start with my 4 simple steps to not getting your ass kicked by the police. 1. Don’t attract attention to yourself. 1a. Do this by not breaking the law, or 1b. failing that, break the law in ways that don’t attract attract attention to yourself. 2. If a cop does stop you, be respectful. 2a. This involves not saying “pig,” “fuck you,” or anything like that. 2b. _even if you think the cop is wrong_, be respectful, which brings us to 3. **If you think the cop is wrong** , the best venue for expressing it is not right then and there. 3a. There are more suitable ways to do that. You have the right to refuse a search, and the right to tell a cop you don’t consent if he starts to search you/your vehicle. 3b. _ **However** _, if he starts a search anyway, do not continue objecting – once is enough, loud enough so he can clearly hear you. 4. You have rights. 4a. One of them **is not** the right from freedom of arrest. 4b. One of them **is not** the right to physically accost a police officer you think is in the wrong. 4c. One of them **is** the right to remain silent. 4d. One of them **is** the right to an attorney. But, more than 1-4, just remain civil the entire time, and you’ll not be arrested, or beaten. ---

You can’t do anything about it at the time of your encounter with police. The best you can do is remain polite but firm with what you say to them, if anything. IMO police are generally decent people with an often shitty job and can certainly get jaded and burnt out from it. Unfortunately they have the power of the city/county/state behind them and the side of the road is not the place to debate legalites. ---

LEOs may still be public servants, but the instant you cross one, you are no longer part of the public they serve. He will be expecting you to assume a subservient attitude until he sees reason to treat you as a member of the public again. Respect is not enough. He is Sir to you until he is through with you, your superior, and you must call him that. Don’t start corking off about your rights as a citizen. If a cop has taken it upon himself to harass you, those rights mean absolutely nothing to him. Do not be bullied, do not be railroaded, but never, _never_ resist, because it will be taken far further than you had any intent to do. ---

What I have never been abale to understand is why would anyone want to take a job where they can be killed at any moment if they fear for there life so much. That simply defies logic as well as common sence,if I had a extreme fear of dieing (which I do not) I dang well aint going to to take such a dangerous job where I could be killed at any second, The only answer I can come up with why someone would do such a thing is Ego! ---

Most of the time that is true, but sometimes it is not. Get a pissed off cop with a hard on and you will be in trouble, no matter what you do. ---

Ok here is a question to think about your not suppose to lay hands on a cop for any reason but what are you suppose to do when you have a bad cop beating the crap out of you just let him do it ?! I ve set there and and watch people on you tube get the crap beat out of them and not even lift a finger to defend there self and other people just stood around and did not offer to lift a finger to help! ---

The best advice I’ve seen is… try to squirm on the ground so that your head is as close to the car as possible, preferably under it; that way they can’t do serious cranial damage. Nearly anything else is survivable. I assume you could claim self-defense… but how are you going to prove it was an unprovoked beating? Even the dumbest redneck cops know to keep shouting “stop resisting” while the beat you. Even the British cops do it when they have to take someone to the ground… and they’re usually pretty mellow. Assault on a police officer is serious business, it’s not worth the risk to fight back. In fact, just raising your arms to protect your face can be, and will be, defined as justification. It’s a threathening gesture, and as such a crime in itself. So is putting your hands behind your back… or in your pockets… or moving them in any way… or behaving in a suspicious manner by not moving them. Take the beating. ---
