# Political Asylum Grantees Earning a Living

And said child retains it’s US citizenship and is free to apply for a US passport and return to the US at any time.

And what if the parent’s country of citizenship has no concept of citizenship by descent? There are a lot of catch 22 situations that can arise.

There are perhaps two countries that don’t recognize citizenship by descent, so that’s not really a worry.
