How far in advance are the National Convention host cities awarded? ---

About a year and a half. Denver was announced on January 11, 2007, and Charlotte was announced on February 1, 2011. ---

Cool! I know it’s small scale, and they only need a b-ball arena and several 1000s of hotel rooms. Unlike the Olympics, which needs so much more infrastructure. ---

The Republican National Convention will be in August in downtown Tampa at the Times Forum (formerly the Ice Palace – where the Tampa Bay Lightning plays ice hockey) – just a few blocks from my office. I fear the traffic and look forward to the entertainment.
