I studied Latin from 9 to 18 - took it to A level.
(1) Yes - I did Latin for all 6 years of high school.
(2) I finished high school in 1981.

Aced both years. Had a very cool teacher. Very funny (he was a friend of Art Buchwald and had a similar sense of humor) and reasonbly progressive. He thought learning verb conjugation by rote was a waste of time for the average student, so we read latin texts for two years and translated for the class. Got the most out of leaning latin roots that way. The two years were fun. Perfecti sunt.

Yes, although taking a language was not actually required at my school, the guidance couselors rarely let you get away with not taking them. Our choices were Fench, Spainish, or Latin. I took it for three years (started my sophomore year.)
