Poll: Did you learn Latin in high school?

The judges say they’ll give you credit for the answer.

and I can’t think of the next line either…but a few lines later is “qui foecit (fecit?) coelum et terram”.

I can’t believe (a) I remember this and (b) I can come close to spelling something correctly that I learned by rote 40 years ago.

Yep, 3 years of Latin in HS (also 1 year of Russian and 2 years of Spanish), graduated in '67 in Denver.

  1. No
  2. 2002 (back when Ontario had 5 years of high school)
  3. Around Toronto, Canada

I think I would’ve enjoyed Latin.

I believe I took two years

I graduated in 1966.

I attended Montrose High School in Montrose, Colo. At the time it had about 400 students.

My teacher, a dedicated little old soul was firmly convinced she could see the language bouncing off my skull. To this day I believe I only passed the subject because of her pity. However, to the surprise of virtually everyone in the school (and a number of people on the police force), I blew the top off the SAT (and that was before it was dumbed down), and I credit a great deal of that on a number of different levels to my taking Latin.

Hello, fellow Mississaugan. waves Where did you attend high school?

I was required to take a year of Latin in middle school (I went to a magnet school). It was pretty much worthless. This was about 6 years ago.

Five years in Finland, three years in Canada.
I graduated in 1969
Kuopio, Finland and Thunder Bay, Canada.
I found Latin helpful in learning English. When I came to Canada in 1966, I spoke no English whatsoever. I had to pick it up while attending grade 11. Fun!

  1. Nope
  2. I’ll graduate in 2007
  3. California.
