Poll: Do you have wisdom teeth?

Had 4, all removed when I was a freshman in college.

My brother and I were both born without wisdom teeth. Our dentist says we’re more evolved than everybody else. BUt here’s the weird(er) thing: I’ve only got 27 teeth. :dubious:

I have at least one, on the bottom left. The tiniest portion of it is exposed, since the teeth next to it were just removed this week (I’m undergoing much dentistry). I don’t know about any others - I’m 46 and they haven’t made themselves known yet.

I had all four removed at age 17 or so, they came in at age 17. They were not impacted, though thankfully. I heard 1001 horror stories beforehand and the actual procedure was a cakewalk.

I still have them somewhere here.

All four, all of them erupted in high school. No real problems.

I had all four removed at age 20. The upper ones were coming in fine, but the lower ones were impacted, and the dentist decided it would be better to simply remove them all.

When I woke up from the general anesthetic, I was wrecked, wasted, effed up, stoned off my ass. It was awesome!

I spent the weekend in bed, eating oatmeal and applesauce, rinsing with that weird mouth syringe and taking vicodin every four hours. On Monday morning, I was fully recovered and I stopped taking the vicodin and went back to work.

No, I don’t. I had them removed ten years ago. Dry socket. FUN.

I have all four. Every time I see a new dentist, s/he wants to take them out, but I don’t see the point since they aren’t bothering me in the slightest.

Never had 'em. Age 27.

Have 2 on the left side, still in the gum. Had 2 removed on the right side last summer by a psychopathic sadistic dentist who didn’t seem to believe in pain medication. He had to cut away a ton of bone to get them out. They did come out whole and I got to keep them…until Bird Man accidently garbage disposaled them. Had dry sockets. Evil dentist would not help me. Lied on my referral when I demanded a second opinion. Grrrr.

Had all four removed when I was 15, along with cysts that had developed around three of them (my dentist just had them take the fourth one, figuring it would need to be removed sooner or later anyway, might as well do it when I was out cold already).

I woke up in the middle of the surgery, though  It’s a good thing they novacained the shite out of me after putting me under, but I could still “feel” scraping and hear it in my head.

My mom had 4, all taken out. As for me, my dentist said that they’ll be coming shortly. He didn’t say anything to me about whether or not they have to be taken out. ::Scared::

All four came in on the usual schedule but not well. They were short and just a bit oddly angled. They crowded the others but didn’t cause a crisis.

Until on broke several years ago (like five, I think). Since it was coming out I had them all pulled. What the hell…he’s in there anyway.

I’m 24…my bottom left one is about done coming in. My bottom right one is still starting to peek through the gums. No word from the uppers.

My Ex boyfriend was my dentist and he took mine out for free while I was in college.

At least he did something nice for me before he strung me along for 6 years, and finally decided he would never marry me.

All 4 of mine are gone, I had them removed when I was 18

I only had the two on the right side develop, which I had take out 15 years ago. The odd thing is that my identical twin brother also only had two, but his were both uppers. What controls which wisdom teeth you get? Our situation seems to argue against genetics.

I had all four extracted when I was in high school; I was 17 I think.

I am another of those people who just lacked wisdom teeth from birth. And I’m a-ok with that.

(Missing a normal adult tooth, too. I guess I am frugal in matters of teeth.)

I’ve got mine, not fully erupted. Every once in awhile I can feel pressure on my other teeth so I know they’re moving a bit, but I haven’t had problems generally. I mentioned this to my dentist who said “At your age, if you’ve still got them, you’ll always have them. They’re not going to start causing problems now.”

Until my last visit. They said it’s rare for this to be the case at 37, but one of them may have to come out.

I still haven’t made the appointment with the oral surgeon because it’s not bothering me
