I have a cell phone, which is to say that my wife bought a cell phone for me, that I don’t use. It stays in the glove box of my car, where it can’t cause any trouble. People ask for my cell phone number. If I give it out, people - for whatever reason - believe that I will answer it. Now, I just deny owning it. It’s simpler.

I have never twittered, texted, tweeted, facebooked, my spaced, or memed - at least, not so far as I am aware.

I harbor the technology no specific ill will. I just don’t need it for anything. Similarly, I don’t own a bathysphere. I don’t hate them. But, I don’t know what I would do with the thing if I found one parked in the backyard one afternoon.

What??? You DON’T have a bathysphere!!! Get with the times, grandpa! How do you then explore the vastness of the ocean depths that is all the rage these days…(I think there are some uber-rare pokemon down there)

I’m guessing the people who never text are not single. You can’t date without tons of texting these days.

Well that’s a depressing thought.

I text three or four times a week. About as often as I talk on the phone. I email a little more than that it seems.

My answer as well. My call to text ratio is likely 1 : 100, with calls made only when there’s no other option.

These sum up my feelings about the text… Love it! I don’t wanna talk on the phone and I try to text or email as much as I can.

As **kayaker **mentioned (that i didn’t quote), I can review my text conversations to confirm details. Otherwise i would have had to get a pen and write the info on a piece of paper that would probably end-up getting lost.

And somebody mentioned dating above and that’s what got me started texting in the first place. I kept calling this girl, she never called back. When I queried her about it, she let me know that she doesn’t check VMs and rarely calls. “Text me”, she said. I did and I’ve been a convert ever since.
