More interesting to me is this scenario: ISIS vs Mexican drug mafia cf Los Zetas. They are both across the border (dont ask me how) and they hate each other. Drugs worth billions at stake. Both sides are ruthless and hyper-violent. ISIS may have more arms - I dont know what kind of equipment the Mexican mafia may possess, but it is likely substantial.
No matter who wins, one thing is certain: the human race will witness barbarism that is beyond insane.
Isis. For one thing, China can’t conquer Taiwan, how can a nation so much smaller and backwards like north Korea conquer isis thousands of miles away? Nk cannot demonstrate force halfway across the globe.
Also, Syria can’t conquer isis. Syria under assad is wealthier, better equipped and closer than nk and they can’t do it. So I don’t know how nk would. Syrians are almost as brutal as north Korea, so there would not be much of an advantage there.
However if we sent isis into north Korea, that would be interesting. But isis would stick out like a sore thumb in nk. There would be no hiding in plain sight.
Also I think I once read it costs about $45 for a gallon of diesel fuel to support the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan. That is after factoring in all the costs to get the supplies to the troops. North Korea can’t even afford gasoline in their home country. So their heavy military weapons would just be lawn ornaments.
Treating it as a hypothetical, isolated, ‘Twilight Zone’-esque scenario, my money would be on the North Koreans. They are an actual, trained, disciplined military force. ISIS are a bunch of murdering yahoo criminals with AKs riding around in the back of Toyota pickups.
North Korea, no question. Some of us might suggest nuking the bastards in moments of frustration, but North Korea would consider this a perfectly legitimate plan.
I expect that the war would not last long, and large swaths of Syria, Iraq, and Libya would have very low population densities when it was over.
Just what the North Koreans need.
Another territory without any food.
