Hey, Adlai Stevenson has gone down in history as a pretty great American figure. It’s not the worst thing in the world. Not like actually winning and being a failed President.
Or winning and getting passed a successful revamp of the health care system.
Oh i see what you mean, being ahead in a meaningless poll is better than winning a presidential election because hey, you might want to run for president. You are so freaking precious!
Like i said, for those who think this is the bee’s knees, he gets a free war and he’ll still be loved. Just like the last guy who expanded health care.
Bush got a free war for pushing the Medicare Part D through? Or was it buy one war and get one free?
Bush was a Republican. He gets no credit for anything.
Your Hannity-esque analysis (and peculiar use of “like i said”) is less than convincing. Your analysis of the ACA has been a complete failure; I see no reason why your analysis of the relative legacies of Obama and the candidates he defeated are any better.
Romney is out on the campaign trail, in demand. Anyone want Obama campaigning with them? Natalie Tennant in WV maybe? Oh wait, she can’t even bring herself to say she supports the President at all! How about Allison Grimes, staunch supporter of ACA I’m sure. Or not. Maybe Mark Begich is happy with the President. “What I want is for him to change his policies.” Oops.
The good news is that they still like his fundraising abilities. Just so long as they aren’t seen with him.
History includes more moments beyond this exact one. There is a past and future. Read more here.
So you’re sticking to your theory that like the ACA, popularity is just around the corner for the President?
That’s not my theory. I’m saying that the ACA is accomplishing its goals, and if it continues on the same course over the long term, it will be seen as a big success, and so (probably) will Obama.
I give him credit for a war based on lies.
Heh. And now Hillary Clinton says on CNN that GWB made her feel proud to be an American.
The rehabilitation of the Republican party continues apace.
hahahahahahahahahaha!!!
Republican Celebrity Rehab, coming this fall on FOX!
It’s easy for Bush to look better in retrospect when the Republicans get progressively worse. If Romney or McCain had actually managed to get elected we would be looking back fondly at Bush even here.
Now you’re being silly. Romney and McCain are not far right Republicans.
And as much as I want to see a Republican win in 2016, I’m just gratified that no matter what, we’re almost certainly getting a better President than we’ve got now. Any Republican who says that Hillary Clinton is as bad as, or worse than Barack Obama is just being ignorant.
Neither was Bush, but the party and their expectations are.
The party and its expectations are in large part controlled by the President. You’re seeing an unreasonable GOP because they are the opposition party. When Bush was in the White House, a lot of the people you consider extremists today just voted however he wanted them to. McCain or Romney would have experienced the same dynamic.
Eh, better that than governing like elephant.
