Last night as I sat drinking a pint of Guinness Stout, With my blind pal and his blind lady friend The Following words came out: “M’Dear”, said I "You’re a pleasure to meet, and as sure as this Guinness is black, I hope you take as a compliment when I say ‘You have a nice Rack.’ " “A compliment indeed!” said she, “a compliment fair and true!” My Blind friend smiled and to me did say “You should See what it can do!” Several Pints of porter later, to ponder I began ‘Good comments on your Breastage, a compliment from a man?’ What say you, Lady Dopers? (and doper squires too ) What would you say, If I did pay Such a compliment to you? ---

The last time anyone told me I had a nice rack, I was wearing reindeer antlers. Of course, he then added that the antlers were nice too, but that’s not the point. Still, I think it depends entirely on how it’s said. If it’s just a matter-of-fact sort of compliment along the lines of “I like what you did with your hair,” and you aren’t staring or anything I’m likely to just say thanks and go on. If it’s a leering, feel-you-up-with-the-eyes type of thing, I’m likely to to tell you to drop dead and probably knock the hell out you in the bargain. ---

CCL (great name by the way!), You raise the angle that I was implying in the OP. This idea of complimenting breastage has been in my head over the last few days. I suppose it is in the way that you say it. If and when I say it, I think of how it would come across to the lady before I would say it. Why would it be taboo to pay such a compliment? ---

I would find it insulting, sexist and intrusive for some guy to comment on my breasts in a just-met-in-a-pub situation. ---

It’s not really that it’s taboo, more that it can really make you look like a pig. If you walk past some complete stranger and yell, “Hey, baby, nice rack!” you’ll come across as a complete jerk. If you’re having a conversation with someone, you can say it without offense (in most cases) provided you 1)say it the same way you’d compliment any other aspect of her appearance and 2) don’t dwell on the subject. Pay the compliment and move on with the conversation. Do NOT under any circumstances say, “You know, you have a great rack. I mean, those are just really fabulous. They look like they’d feel really great, and they’re just the right size. You’re what, a 36D? I’ve never seen such a great rack…” You get the point. ---

To me, it would be a strange thing to compliment - similar to congratulating me on being 5’5" tall - like I had anything to do with it. Even if I worked out in an attempt to keep 'em perky, I expect I’d be less than thrilled to have my tits singled out. Tone of voice has a lot to do with it, tho. Slobbering idiots can’t say anything that would impress me. Still, I’d rather you admire me for my quick wit and engaging manner than mere physical attributes. But if you’re not being a jerk, I’ll likely thank you, or, at worst, roll my eyes and ignore you. Incidentally, nice package! 😉 :eek: ---

If I felt that the lady in question would be offended by such, I would not pass comment. and it was not off the cuff quip, myself and herself were discussing breasts. I think it very much depends on situation. I hope I can explain my opinion with clarity (I get myself muddled sometimes.) I would have no qualms about complimenting a friend in such a way. In fact, I have. At the last Londope. If I felt my friends would not like such a compliment, I would not pay it. I would never have said anything to the lady in question if I didn’t think she would be put out by such a comment. Istara, as you are a even minded poster whose opinion I respect, I hope you would not take umbrage by the question I posed. Let me present a scenario to you. If A lady goes to great pains to dress in a way in which her breasts are prominent, and she looks very well dressed like that, would it be out of line to compliment her for it? ---

I actually got a comment along these lines the other day. My question is: Why say it? What’s the motive? If you want to ask me out, it’s a lame line. If you’re claiming that it’s “just a compliment”, you know that it’s a compliment laden with sexual overtones that has the potential to make the woman uncomfortable. Keep it to yourself unless you like looking like a jerk. ---

I personally think if someone is clearly looking for attention, you should ignore them for the most part. Feeding trolls is a bad idea, you know. Besides, Twist, a lot of the girls you’re talking about want you to comment on their breasts, but only so they have involved conversations with their friends about what pigs men are. ---

If a woman puts a lot of effort into displaying her breasts (as part of how she dresses (and I’m not talking about showing cleavage) would it be wrong if I was to compliment her for looking good? Why would I say something like that? To let her know that she looks good. What is wrong with that? ---

If I had on a particularly showy shirt that made my breasts look great or gave me nice cleavage, I wouldn’t be offended if someone said so. “Nice rack” is sort of a funny, off the cuff remark.
