I think it would have been good to include whether you’re in a swing state or not . A lot easier to “vote your conscience” when you don’t think your vote will make a difference.

I’m in a swing state, and I plan on voting for Clinton – and on voting for Republicans in Congress, as I often do, so I guess I count.

Swing-state Republican here. Probably voting for Gary Johnson. Might just not mark a Presidential candidate (I’ll be voting, certainly. I just might not vote in the top race.)

Follow-on question, please. Assuming the next President will be Trump or Clinton, do you have a preference? Or is it “six of one, half-dozen of the other” for you?

They’re both very bad options as far as I see it, both likelier to leave the country worse than they found it. I suppose I technically prefer Hillary, by virtue of the fact that I trust that she, at least, wouldn’t embarrass our country on the world stage as our leader.

My state is as red as it can possibly be but I’m voting for Clinton anyway. It won’t matter, but it won’t hurt. At least I’ll have a clear conscience.

Isn’t that interesting-Although in various threads I have seen several Republicans say that they were going to refuse to vote in this election, none of them have voted in this poll.

I think it’s called confirmation bias.
The few Republicans that I recall saying they’ll vote Hillary also haven’t voted in this poll or maybe just not posted.

So then why not vote for her? That’s the part I’ve never understood. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen two candidates who I thought were just as good or just as bad, and then voted based on one being slightly better.
What does not voting for either one even accomplish?

No blame from Democrats if Trump wins, and no blame from Republicans if Clinton wins. Their hands are “clean”.

What does voting for either one even accomplish? If a vote is expressing my support for someone for office, then I obviously can’t vote for Hillary, because even though I prefer her to Trump, I still don’t want her as President. Johnson isn’t precisely my cup of tea, either, but he’s someone I could feel decent about supporting.

I really don’t blame them for their silence. Admitting they weren’t voting would be like admitting they were a draft-dodging, jury duty avoiding, non-tax paying, library overdue fine accumulating, peeing-in-public litterbug.

I haven’t made up my mind yet. I am not voting for Trump, but my state is pretty certain to go for Hilary.
If the Libertarian Party gets (I think) 5% of the vote, they will qualify as a major political party in my state, and then they get election funds and automatic ballot access, so I may vote for Johnson. But I haven’t decided.
