# Poll: How many times a day do you pee?

A few days ago, I got a phone call from a research group doing a survey. Actually, it was about the fourth call in as many days, but I got tired of hanging up on them. I figured if I took their damned survey they’d stop calling.
Turns out, the survey was about urinary health stuff. I’m a healthy twenty-something male, so urinary issues are about the least of my worries. Incontinence ranks on my daily list of concerns somewhere between being struck by a meterorite and contracting leprosy. So I spent most of the ten-minute conversation repeating the word “no” about every 5 seconds. Because, well, I _haven’t_ wet myself in the last six months. My wife heard the converstaion, but didn’t know what it was about, and found my saying “no” like a broken record very amusing. (_Aside: I found the question, “Do you often fall down on the way to the bathroom?” particularly funny._)
Towards the end, the answers were more open-ended. I gave a couple numerical answers, and got off the phone. My wife heard me say “three” at one point, but still didn’t understand. She asked what the phone call was, and I told her it was all about peeing.
The next thing out of her mouth was “YOU ONLY PEE THREE TIMES A DAY?” (Very perceptive of her to make that logical jump. I was impressed.) We then proceeded to debate on whether that was normal. She started mentally counting, and finally deceded that she goes probably 8 or 9 times in an average day.
In reality, my answer is 3, maybe 4. But not even half what she’s talking about.
So I ask you, the Teeming Millions… how many times a day, on average, do you pee?

Maybe 1 or 2 during the day. At night (or when I am in bed) I need to pee all the time. If there is a god, he hates me.
8 or 9 seems a bit excessive, does your wife drink a lot?

Probably about 4-6 times a day, unless I happen to have a water bottle around…then I keep refilling it and end up peeing about a dozen times in a day.

I’m an infrequent visitor but even I go more than 3X daily, are you sure you’re counting right? Figure once upon awakening and it’s usually the last thing most folks do before going to bed, just once more in between?
My doctor and I have a running debate about this, he swears a healthy person should pee approximately every two hours during the day, I think that’s excessive. Even with my love affair with coffee, and my dutiful consumption of equal cups of iced water because my parents beat it into me that my kidneys would shrivel up and escape out my navel if I didn’t, I still only go about 5 times.

About 3-4 times daily, maybe 5-6 with lots of fluid consumption.

About 5. I’d be very annoyed if somebody phoned me in my own home and started asking about my bowel movements, though.

I go about 2-4 times a day. Sometimes I will have a sudden urge to go around 8pm, and realize that the last time I visited the bathroom was when I got up that morning. I drink plenty, too- at least 2 glasses of water at every meal. Must be my bladder is fairly large.

I pee at least 12 times a day. I am the chick in the detrol commercial,
I have kidney problems and my bladder sucks from being locked in my room for hours on end with no bathroom break as punishment. Eventually I learned to keep a very large bottle in my room but it took me a while to figure that out.
Hubby is one of those who pees maybe 4 times a day. I tease him that I want a bladder like his 🙂

10-12 times a day. I have a heart disease so I have to take strong diuretics. the first few hours after taking my pills I go about every 45 min.

I’m probably on par with your wife, **audilover**. I have no particular health problems. I just take in a lot of fluid. I go nowhere without a beverage. I’ve been that way as far back as I can remember.

I really don’t know—it’s not like I keep track or anything—but I’m sure it varies based on how much I’ve been drinking, how much I’ve been sweating, whether I’ve been taking convenience pees or “gotta go” pees, and all sorts of other stuff.
And I wouldn’t put too much faith in that phone survey. It’d be too tempting for people to give goofy answers just to mess with the questioner.

I average 126.7 pees a day…
Seriously, I haven’t a clue… all I know is that it’s a lot less in the summer.
I can’t beleive anybody would count…

10 times a day easy. I drink LOTS of water. Have to. My mother had kidney stones, my brother had kidney stones, and my sister has some weird kidney disease (forget name). So now Im super paranoid being the only one left that hasnt yet developed a kidney problem.

In the summer, aruond 4-5 times a day. In the winter, perhaps 8-10.

I am also a big water drinker. I try and get at least 150 ounces a day in. So I would guess 7-8 times a day, maybe more, I really don’t count.

A lot.
I don’t know. The last think I’m thinking of while pissing is “What number is this today?” I’m usually thinking of what I have to do after I pee, unless it’s in the middle of the night, then I’m really not thinking about much at all except the automatic brain processes that keep the urine from landing outside the circle and then making it back to bed without stubbing my toe on anything.
