This is the final poll in a three part series. Feel free to participate even if you did not participate in either of the previous two. You may elect to make as many or as few selections as you like. Expounding on your selections would be greatly appreciated, but is not required.

After this poll has closed, I’ll evaluate the responses and post a new thread explaining what the poll was about and announcing the results. It’ll likely take a long time to tabulate everything, and I won’t want to do it in one sitting I’m sure. So it may be a couple weeks or more before I can finish.

(Note to the posters who posted after Poll II closed: I have included your responses.)

Thanks for participating. 🙂

1. **"Klaatu barada nikto"** or “May the Force be with you”

Piss on Lucas.

1. **Slim Elvis** or Fat Elvis

Gotta have the hips.

1. A Whiter Shade of Pale or **The Dark Side of the Moon**

I’ve worn out a dozen copies of this LP.

1. **Don’t Tread On Me** or One Nation Under God

Don’t tell me what to believe.

1. **"Waiter, there’s a fly in my soup!"** or “Do you have Prince Albert in a can?”

I respect Albert too much to make jokes about him.

1. **Hail Britannia** or Pomp and Circumstance

HB is majestic. P&C is boring.

1. **Bill Clinton** or Jimmy Carter

Blowjobs beats lust in the heart every time.

1. Oxford or **Cambridge**

Just because.

1. The Iliad or **The Odyssey**

More scenery.

1. **"A thing must have an identity before it can exist"** or “A thing must exist before it can have an identity”

Because.

1. **Edgar Alan Poe** or Ralph Waldo Emerson

If only for what he did that got him thrown out of West Point.

1. “Even the inner and sensible intuition of our mind (as object of consciousness) which is represented as being determined by the succession of different states in time, is not the self proper, as it exists in itself — that is, is not the transcendental subject — but only an appearance that has been given to the sensibility of this, to us unknown, being.” (Kant)

or

**"Something unknown is doing we don’t know what." (Eddington)**

Kant was an idiot.

1. **Twenty minutes of bagpipes** or Two minutes of stomach cramps

2 hours of bagpipes! I love the sound.

1. **Judo** or Karate

Defensive is better.

1. Bing Crosby or **Patsy Cline**

Der Bingle was a hack.

1. **Mr. Burns** or Mr. Spacely

More evil.

1. **Mahatma Gandhi** or Nelson Mandela

Not a bank robber.

1. Rice or **Pasta**

Better with tomato sauce

1. Lettuce tomato and mayonnaise or **Chili mustard and slaw**

Spicier is better.

Bonus Question: Which is more important — how or **why**?

“Why?” is always the question.

10. “A thing must have an identity before it can exist” or **"A thing must exist before it can have an identity"**

11. **Edgar Alan Poe** or Ralph Waldo Emerson
Inventor of the modern detective story

Kant is, as usual, incomprehensible. I like the other quotation, it expresses our fundamental ignorance about much.

====================================

1. “Klaatu barada nikto” or **“May the Force be with you”** - You just can’t mess with the Force 🙂 in all of it’s anecdotes and uses…

2. **Slim Elvis** or Fat Elvis - because he was in his purest form.

3. A Whiter Shade of Pale or **The Dark Side of the Moon** - the song and the literal translate so perfectly into an illusion of the unkown and those things that have yet to be discovered.

4. **Don’t Tread On Me** or One Nation Under God - I’m a pragmatist.

5. **"Waiter, there’s a fly in my soup!"** or “Do you have Prince Albert in a can?” - the latter is just plain wrong.

6. Rule Britannia or **Pomp and Circumstance** - I like Othello.

7. **Bill Clinton** or Jimmy Carter - don’t hang me.

8. **Oxford** or Cambridge - Repetitio est mater studiorum

9. The Iliad or **The Odyssey** - I like goats.

10. “A thing must have an identity before it can exist” or **“A thing must exist before it can have an identity”** - conjecture.

11. Edgar Alan Poe or **Ralph Waldo Emerson** - I don’t like the dark.
