1. Registered as a Democrat, but I usually vote Rebublican. I consider myself moderately conservative. Depends on the issue. 2. Yes, a Chevy Trailblazer (a mid-size SUV) 3. Suburban, but I travel to rural areas a lot. [/QUOTE] Are you kidding me? I have good reasons for needing something that’s 4WD. Although we don’t get a lot of snow here in the Mid-Atlantic, we do get some. I have to go to work, even in bad weather, and it’s in a somewhat rural area. My office never closes, literally. (Really - it’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week) I have to be able to get out during bad weather, whether it’s for work or getting to the firehouse. It’s not like I’m out doing donuts in parking lots when it snows. Plus, I have kids. Sometimes I have to haul stuff around. I used to have a station wagon, but the Trailblazer is so much better. How am I willfully endangering and inconveniencing _you_? ---

I had 2 suitcases, 6 computers, 4 guns, 2 cats (in carriers), several boxes of wifey’s clothes, wifey, important papers, and me all in the one car. Results so far ```auto Percent of dems who own an SUV: 36.2% Percent of city dems who own an SUV: 29.5% (sample size: 22) Percent of rural dems who own an SUV: 57.1% (sample size: 7) Percent of reps who own an SUV: 61.1% Percent of city reps who own an SUV: 68.8% (sample size: 8) Percent of rural reps who own an SUV: 0.0% (sample size: 1) Percent of 'other' who own an SUV: 60.7% Percent of city 'other' who own an SUV: 63.6% (sample size: 11) Percent of rural 'other' who own an SUV: 50.0% (sample size: 3) ``` For the numbers above, I counted people with mini-SUV’s as having 0.5 SUVs If we count min-SUV’s as 1 SUV, then we get the following ```auto Percent of dems who own an SUV: 41.4% Percent of city dems who own an SUV: 31.8% (sample size: 22) Percent of rural dems who own an SUV: 71.4% (sample size: 7) Percent of reps who own an SUV: 66.7% Percent of city reps who own an SUV: 75.0% (sample size: 8) Percent of rural reps who own an SUV: 0.0% (sample size: 1) Percent of 'other' who own an SUV: 71.4% Percent of city 'other' who own an SUV: 72.7% (sample size: 11) Percent of rural 'other' who own an SUV: 66.7% (sample size: 3) ``` Note: 1. ‘dems’ refers to people who are left-leaning/liberals, ‘reps’ refers to people who are right-leaning/conservatives 2. We need more conservatives to answer this poll, to get a meaningful sample size. ---

My voting leans democratic. I own a Subaru Legacy wagon, so it’s AWD but without the big everything. I just need the AWD. NY City dweller but I drive a stupid amount now that I’m working in NJ. ---

Democrat No, but I do have a full size pick-up (for work, mostly) Far suburbs/rural For those who suggest a Station Wagon - we just went through buying one to replace our totalled Ford Escort wagon. Do you realize that a station wagon that will fit two dog crates and camping gear usually only gets 22-24 mpg? (we ended up with a 5 year old Saturn) I’m waiting for Subaru to come out with a hybrid Outback… ---

Simple: a) Republican b) No. I own a small sedan. I hate SUVs & pickups with a passion, and I’m not fond of their drivers either - they’re often inconsiderate jerks. c) Can’t get much more rural than where I live. If you want a few more conservative data points my dad and brother are republicans and drive a sedan and a coupe respectively. Mom’s a republican with a jeep wrangler. ---
