Lame, because: –They’ve done the group thing five times in a decade. Most of them were fine in isolation, but if they’re not going to name an actual person they should stop calling it Person of the Year. –I agree with the aims of the #Occupy movement (such as they are), I think it’s a good thing on balance, and it was clearly inspired by the Arab Spring uprisings. But naming “The Protestors” as PotY _equates_ the two in a way I don’t like. #Occupy may end up having a positive effect on American policy, but the Arab Spring is a much bigger deal in the grand scheme. ---

I’m a UC Davis alumni. Those guys were classy. Showed that if cops can’t control a bunch of college kids sitting on their ass in a place that obstructs no kind of class or campus business (the Quad is a shortcut but not an egress blocker), then they shouldn’t be cops. Making the University President do the walk of shame like a common perp was pure class. Jesus H Christ, what kind of ninnies do we have in power? Based on that along: “not lame” ---

‘Lame’ was when they chose Rudy911 in 2001, instead of the obvious choice, Osama bin Laden. Apparently they felt that choosing bin Laden would be harmful to America’s fragile psyche at that time. ---

The problem is that so many people think that this is some kind of popularity thing, which it isn’t. It’s all about making an impression, good or bad. ---

Can I vote for “this poll is really, really lame”? Not because I’m rooting for OWS **and** the Arab Spring (and I **am** rooting for both), but because this strikes me as a stealth pitting.
