I have my own charities that I support, either with money when I have some, or with time by volunteering (more common since I rarely have money). I don’t need someone else telling me to raise awareness for another cause. This is actually the 3rd or 4th ice bucket challenge I have seen in recent months. This is also combined with all the moronic group messages I get about vague posts I’m supposed to make to FB to bring attention to breast cancer, money I’m supposed to donate for heart disease, etc. It never stops. If someone feels that I’m not generous enough I’ll be happy to tell them about donations I’ve made and time I’ve spent volunteering. I don’t need to dump ice water on my head to feel good about myself. I’d also like to know how many people doing this “challenge” even know what ALS is, what it does, or anything other than a baseball player had it. ---

I’m not opposed to doing it. I’m just not trendy or make videos of myself doing youtube like stunts. I would do it if there is a Klondike Bar in the offering. ---

I regularly take showers with the water as cold as I can possibly bear, and then make it a little colder. Would dumping ice water on my head be significantly “worse” in any way? If not, I don’t really get the “challenge.” ---

The next big awareness campaign will be about the dangers of hypothermia. No, I wouldn’t pour ice water on my head for charity. But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t engage in a stunt for charity. ---
