No, it’s a simple statement of what the Right has _always_ wanted. A major reason why we are in our present situation is that so many people have tried so hard to deny that. To pretend that they are well meaning, reasonable people we can “compromise” and be “bipartisan” with. And again and again they’ve taken advantage of that delusion to gain more power and hurt people, because _that_ is what they care about.
