Rewind three years. It’s April 2020. The Democratic Party is looking for its presidential nominee, but this time, instead of primaries, they’re going to choose the candidate behind closed doors. The American public waits with bated breath. Will it be…Beto? de Blasio? Bernie? Biden? Buttigieg? Warren? Klobuchar? Booker? Kamala? The shocking announcement eventually comes out…it’s **you**. Yes, you, out of 320 million Americans. (If you’re not American, just pretend you are.) The bad news is that you have no experience. The good news is that you’ll be going up against Donald Trump, the most beatable incumbent president in history. Even with no prep, you’d easily mop the floor with him in the 3 televised debates. How do you think you fare come November 2020? _Poll ([view on site](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/polls-only-no-discussion/953642/3188))_ ---

Walter is a billionaire. His wife, Mary, is a shopaholic. Mary has amassed a collection of many thousands of shoes like Imelda Marcos, thousands of items of clothing, perfume, watches, handbags, decorations, jewelry, accessories, etc. She is spending several million dollars per year. The mansion and estate looks like a museum now. One day, Walter confronts Mary and points out that she has more shoes already in her massive storage room than she could ever wear in her lifetime, and - even more importantly - he’s worried that she may be becoming mentally unhinged in some way with this shopping behavior. Mary defends: “I’m spending less than 0.1% of our wealth. Besides, if it really comes to it, we could always re-sell this stuff and recoup most of what was spent.” _Poll ([view on site](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/polls-only-no-discussion/953642/3194))_ ---
