You are on a long transoceanic flight. The flight attendant is coming down the aisle with the meal cart offering a choice of chicken or pasta. Which one do you want? (And if you ask the the flight attendant for “other” you will be told “Sorry, we only have chicken or pasta. If you wanted a special meal you had to request it in advance.”) You’re quite hungry and forgot to bring any other food with you, so you don’t want “none of the above”. If you want to ask the flight attendant how they’re prepared before you make your choice: The chicken is a lump of chicken breast with some sort of gravy, mixed vegetables, and mashed potatoes. The pasta is vegetarian ravioli stuffed with cheese, in a marinara sauce. Both come with a salad, dinner roll, and a brownie for dessert. The airline also offers complementary red or white wine, or beer, and of course the usual soft drinks. _Poll ([view on site](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/polls-only-no-discussion/953642/5431))_ _Poll ([view on site](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/polls-only-no-discussion/953642/5431))_ ---
